PE

We are developing the National Curriculum aims:

Develop competence to excel in a broad range of activities.

Being physically active for a sustained period of time.

Engage in competitive sports and activities.

Lead to healthy and active lifestyles.

This is understood by all stakeholders from headteacher down to students as it is developed within our curriculum map and then fed into individual lessons. Evident within PE department lessons and the variety of content. Through varied activities that we engage in from performance skills to invasion games we strive to deliver high quality lessons that enable students to make accelerated progress. Evidence in and around school especially within the department that shows the curriculum in action from displays, books and key stage 3 folders. 100% participation by students in all lessons, including those who have SEND through differentiated tasks.

All the school’s aims are at the heart of physical education ideals. Health and safety is paramount in every lesson and by the very nature of sport and physical education resilience is experienced. Students academic potential is challenged in year 7 and 8 by the implementation of theoretical knowledge though unit teaching, home learning booklets and unit tests.
